Washington Harbour Ice Rink: Washington Harbour on the Georgetown waterfront offers ice skating with beautiful views of the Potomac River. Open annually from mid-November until March, the ice rink is open every single day, including holidays – perfect for a holiday vacation! The rink’s Learn to Skate classes offer enthusiastic instruction to beginners as well as experienced skaters who want to improve their skating techniques. Classes are offered for all ages (three years and up). It’s easily the largest rink in the DC area, and it offers very unique activities and sessions that your kids are bound to love: Cartoon Skate Saturdays and Rock ‘n’ Skate Saturday Nights!
Canal Park Ice Rink: Canal Park, once an abandoned bus parking lot, is today one of DC’s hottest neighborhood attractions. Why, you might ask? Well for starters, the ice rink is on a track, and you can almost feel as if you’re gliding along Amsterdam’s frozen canals…except as you skate around the figure-eight shaped track, Washington’s amazing city views greet you at every turn. The rink is open mid-November until the end of February. It’s easy to locate but still somewhat of a hidden gem, so if you’re looking to avoid crowds, this is the place to go.
The Ford Dupont Ice Arena is the only public indoor ice arena located in Washington, DC and the only skating facility in the area that provides free or subsidized skating programs to children. The Ford Dupont Ice Arena operates as a charity and has a number of programs aimed at helping kids, as well as a number of serious programs such as speed skating and synchronized lessons for kids. The Ice Arena is open year round, so you can bring the fam anytime!
